Modern Irish Quilting Bee – August

Well it was rather autumn like feeling this August. Bit cold and wet! Our daughter’s school is starting tomorrow (only a half day and it’s Friday!), summer must has left Ireland.

Hive mama for August Modern Irish Quilting Bee was Fiona of Patchwork delight and blocks she wanted were “churn dash”. Easy I thought until I saw Fiona’s instruction. No flower prints….

I have been there, so fed up of seeing flower prints. I tried not to buy them before but always failed… And then a lot of people talking about Liberty’s and Tilda’s. Well I actually don’t fancy them. Yes they are beautiful but…. Sorry if I offended anybody there.

Anyway I managed to find bright modern fabrics without flower print from my stash and here are the results.

yellow one

Yellow one

That’s my fabourite yellow fabric right now. It’s from Robert Kaufman. Not orange, not too faded, not too bright, just perfectly gentle yellow.

Navy in the middle

And I am in love with this navy with leaf print. It’s a very large print and sometime looks very traditional and other time modern. I think because navy is a very classic colour but all the leaves are in modern colour and have got very bold look.

Both yellow and navy fabrics are available from my shop if you are interested.

Now better go to bed early for the school run.
