Paula Rafferty is a great art quilter and very enthusiastically showcasing Irish quilts nationally and internationally. One of the events she organises is Irish Quilters Showcase exhibition. This year is the third year of this group show and my first to be included.
This exhibition travels and Mountmellick Library is the third venue and they had opening yesterday evening which I went.
From the outside, the building look like any other old public structure but the inside is very clean and modern and the gallery space upstairs is beautiful and spacious.
Local to this Library is a super talented quilter Ethelda Ellis. I admire her quilts, very pictorial and detailed. I am so sorry but somehow I didn’t take any photo of hers this time (I was talking too much for a change)!
Some details of quilts there.
In this exhibition also includes some quilts made by inmates of Limerick prison where Paula teaches quilt making.
And of course showing local talent too.
The exhibition is on until the end of September. Do visit!!
Big thank you Paula and Ethelda for organising this!
